A man was arrested after breaking into Taylor Swift’s New York apartment on Friday.
Author sidenote: We shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Maybe this man has a reasonable explanation for breaking into her apartment. Maybe he heard cries for help, maybe he thought it was someone else’s apartment.
Roger Alavardo, of Homestead, Florida, allegedly climbed up a ladder to Swift’s apartment early Friday. Okay not great. He smashed a window with her bare hand and perused through her house. Yeah this is sounding stalker-ish. The 22-year-old then took a shower and fell asleep in a bed, according to TMZ.
In a statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the NYPD says that they responded to a report of a burglary. "During their investigation, responding officers saw a ladder and a broken window at the location. They found the perpetrator asleep inside the apartment and affected an arrest," the statement read. To make things creepier, Alvarado was arrested at the same address in February for breaking the door down with a shovel.
Okay, forget everything I said previously about jumping to conclusions. You may now jump to all the conclusions.
Luckily, Swift was not home during the incident. A witness spotted the man breaking into the apartment and called the cops. Alvarado was charged with stalking, burglary and criminal mischief.
As disturbing as the above incident may sound, this isn’t the first time a stalker has been arrested near Swift's property. Julies Sandrock was arrested for behaving suspiciously near the property on April 14th. According to the police report, the man was "wearing a mask and rubber gloves when he was taken into custody and told police he had driven from his home in Broomfield, Colorado, to see Swift... A search of his car turned up a knife, rope, ammunition and more masks and gloves."
Taylor Swift sure does have some passionate fans. Swift owns several homes across the U.S, including Beverly Hills, Nashville and Rhode Island. She had apparently just purchased the property, but according to TMZ has not yet lived there.
She might not want to anymore.
