Katy Perry sends olive branch to Taylor Swift

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift may have once had problems, but it looks like they are about to solve them.

On Tuesday, Swift posted evidence on Twitter that Katy Perry is looking to repair their relationship. In the hopes of letting bygones be bygones, Perry sent her old nemesis an olive branch (literally) to celebrate the opening night of her Glendale, Arizona stadium tour.

The gift basket laced with leaflets included a note that read, “Hey old friend, I have been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and hurt feelings between us. I really want to clear the air ...”

The rest of the note is not visible in the post. TMZ reports that the note also apparently states that Perry is “deeply sorry” about something, the outlet cannot confirm what that may be in regards to.

This peace offering comes shortly after Perry threw some shade during a recent episode of American Idol. Many thought Katy Perry was pouring gasoline on their smoldering relationship when one of the contestants admitted being a Taylor Swift fan. Perry responded to this by saying, “I like her as a songwriter myself.” The tone and editing of the clip made it appear that Swift was implying that she does not like Swift as a person. The olive branch could be a way of apologizing for that comment, or for the entire feud all together.

A source tells E!  that Perry is “very relieved” and ready to “move forward” after Swift accepted the peace offering. Many were concerned that Perry would be upset over Swift making the olive branch public by posting it on social media. The source confirms that Perry “was happy that Taylor was accepting and took the time to post about it.”

Of course, one does not simply discuss the ending of a feud without reflecting on how it started.  The Perry/Swift rift began a long time ago in the distance land of 2013. When three backup dancers left Swift’s “Red” tour after about six months, they were quickly hired by Perry for her “Prismatic” tour.

In 2014 an article in the Rolling Stone, Swift confirmed that the song “Bad Blood” was written about a former friend that betrayed her. Many suspected she was referring to Katy Perry. Swift said the mysterious enemy “basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour,” and that “she tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”

That was all in the past, and it looks like the relationship is beginning to mend. But remember, band-aids don’t fix bullet holes.

Whatever that means.
