Flu virus is mainly spread by droplets made when people with the flu cough, sneeze, or talk. The single best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season. While flu season can begin as early as October, it is recommended to get your flu shot as soon as they become available, since it takes the body about 2 weeks to produce antibodies to provide protection against influenza.
