TUSCALOOSA --- Alabama point guard Jahvon Quinerly is expected back in the Crimson Tide lineup for Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. game against Arkansas. The sophomore guard has missed three consecutive games due to an unspecified medical condition.

AUBURN – Guard Joshua Primo scored 22 points while forward Jordan Bruner added 20 to lead the Alabama to a 94-90 thriller over Auburn at Auburn Arena on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten in the Southeastern Conference.

TUSCALOOSA — Alabama’s pass rush has been among the leading proponents of its defensive improvement in the second half of the season: after 11 sacks in its first eight games, it registered 13 in its final two. Eight of those sacks came in its last game against Arkansas, against a Razorbacks team that was previously allowing 2.8 sacks per game.

Last season, Jaylen Moody was Alabama’s sixth linebacker at best. Dylan Moses and Joshua McMillon would’ve started if not for injuries, so UA turned to Shane Lee and Christian Harris. Markail Benton was a situational linebacker and Ale Kaho was often the first linebacker off the bench, all of them ahead of Moody.

TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama’s men’s basketball coach Nate Oats ignited a social media firestorm on his Thursday afternoon Zoom call when he implied that Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski was more concerned about two on-the-court losses than actual COVID-19 cancellations.

Alabama coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19 and is not expected to coach against Auburn on Saturday. He is mildly symptomatic. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will act in the head coach role against the Tigers and for the remainder of Saban's time in quarantine.

TUSCALOOSA — By the most basic statistics, Alabama’s current run defense is almost inseparable from the 2019 version that drew criticism and ire from all angles. Last year, Alabama allowed 3.82 yards per carry to rank tied for 43rd nationally. So far this season, it is allowing 3.79 yards per carry to rank 41st.

TUSCALOOSA — Replacing LaBryan Ray is more than replacing Alabama’s most experienced defensive linemen and its best defensive end. Alabama has an abundance of defensive ends, many of them having gained experience playing in Ray’s absence last season.
