Wallace men’s golf wins second straight tournament
Fort Gaines, GA – The Wallace Governors men's golf team continued its strong fall season by capturing the team title at the Andrew College Invitational, which concluded yesterday. Wallace's A Team led the way with an impressive performance, while the Governors' B Team also secured a podium finish, placing third in a competitive 12-team field.
A major highlight of the tournament came in the second round on Monday, when the Wallace A Team shot an even-par round. The Governors were the only team in the entire field to shoot even par in any round of the tournament, showcasing the team's ability to put together an exceptional round against a strong field.
Wallace also made its mark in the individual competition, as Sam Broadaway claimed medalist honors with a tournament total of 1-under par. Broadaway was the only golfer in the field to finish the tournament under par, separating himself from the competition with a remarkable opening round of 6-under par. His first-round performance proved to be the difference-maker, as no other golfer in the tournament recorded a round better than 2-under par.
Cooper Weeks also delivered a strong performance for the Governors, finishing tied for third place with a three-round total of 3-over par. Weeks opened the tournament with back-to-back even-par rounds before closing with a 3-over-par score in the final round.
Ian Senn finished eighth overall, earning his second consecutive top-10 finish and continuing his consistent play throughout the fall season. Rylan Stewart and Bryce Matthews rounded out Wallace's top-10 finishers, tying for ninth place overall.
With the A Team taking home the team championship and the B Team finishing third, the Andrew College Invitational was a successful outing for the Governors as they continue to build momentum heading into their final tournament of the fall.
Wallace will return to action November 2–3 for the Pioneer Invitational ACCC Preview Tournament, hosted by Jefferson State Community College at Bent Brook Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama. The event will serve as the Governors' final tournament of the fall season.
