TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team is back on the course Monday and Tuesday at the Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina at the Greenville Country Club. The Trojans are coming off a strong finish in their season opener behind one of the youngest lineups in the country.
First-year head coach JD Lamm will turn to the same five for week two as he did in the opener, headlined by fourth-year Manya Saini, who is the reigning Sun Belt Women's Golfer of the Week.
Saini shot a 1-under 212 and finished fourth last week at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, with a field-leading 12 birdies. She was tied for the individual lead heading into the final hole and opened the tournament with a career-best 5-under 66.
The next three in Lamm's lineup all made their collegiate debuts last week, in Mara Dajer, Roberta Alvarez and Anna Roldan Sewald. Dajer and Alvarez opened with even-par rounds and held their own over the course of the tournament, finishing in a tie for 26th and 36th place. Sewald and second-year Evelyn Tankersley flashed positive play as well for the Trojans in the opener.
