While only one Tigers’ team will prevail as victorious inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24 between Auburn and LSU, the fans and community members who attend Ales for ALS the night before will all support a winning cause as the third annual fundraiser returns to raise funds to support ALS research.
2026 marks the third consecutive year for New Realm Brewing–Auburn to participate in Ales for ALS.
This year’s Ales for ALS event “Rooted in Hope” returns Friday, Oct. 23 at New Realm Brewing–Auburn for a special beer release party that is a unique collaboration between the brewery, the College of Human Sciences’ Brewing Science and Operations program and the Ales for ALS organization.

In addition to raising thousands of dollars in funds the past few years to directly benefit the ALS TDI (Therapy Development Institute), Rooted in Hope also gives a brewing science and operations graduate student the opportunity to brew a unique beer recipe for a large crowd to earn real industry experience.
This year’s brewing science and operations graduate student is Quinn Considine, who brewed up a German-style bock beer back sweetened with honey. He also serves as the New Realm Brewing–Auburn taproom manager.
“This is in all honesty my first true beer I’ve made,” said Considine. “I’ve made half beers and ciders, but I’ve never designed one, made a recipe or had the opportunity to actually brew. I got to go from basically no experience at least in brewing beer to brewing for something I would consider to be very important because we do need more research when it comes to curing ALS because it’s something that affects everybody.”

Ales for ALS Rooted in Hope will be open to the public from 7-9 p.m. at New Realm Brewing–Auburn as an evening enjoying fresh craft beer will help fund critical ALS research.
For those interested in attending a VIP experience, tickets will cost $100 each and include an exclusive VIP tasting featuring the Ales for ALS brew, appetizers and the opportunity to hear inspiring remarks from ALS Advocate and former Auburn basketball player Gary Godfrey. The VIP experience will be from 4-7 p.m. on the third floor of the Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center.
“I’ve had a great time participating in this,” said Considine. “It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Godfrey and he’s one of the funniest people that I’ve met in a long time. He’s very inspiring and he still loves to joke with everybody. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this or be in this position without the Brewing Science and Operations program.”
Ales for ALS was created in 2013 by a hop farming family to raise funds and awareness for ALS and since then, more than $10 million has been raised for ALS research as brewers from 50 states and six countries have participated.
