CHEROKEE RIDGE, AL — The Wallace Community College Governors men's golf team turned in a strong performance at the Chuck Kalanick Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by Snead State Community College at Cherokee Ridge Country Club in Cherokee Ridge, Alabama, last week.
The Governors finished tied for second overall with Walters State, posting a team score of +21 for the tournament. Wallace finished just behind Shelton State, which claimed the team title with a score of -1.
Leading the way for the Governors was Rylan Stewart, who posted the team's top individual finish. Stewart finished tied for ninth overall with a tournament score of +4, including a +2 final round.
Jaxon Wilson delivered an impressive final round, shooting -1 to finish the tournament at +6, good for a tie for 14th place. Teammate Bryce Matthews also finished at +6.
The Governors will look to build on their strong performance when they return to action for their home tournament in Dothan, Alabama, on October 5-6. Wallace will host the event at the RTJ Golf Trail at Highland Oaks, giving the Governors an opportunity to compete on their home course.
